Nothing Says ‘I Love You’ Like a Bundle of Dead Cells.
The Yale University Art Gallery in New Haven is presenting a show composed of Victorian scrapbooks, filled with letters, drawings, and tokens of affection. The books were often composed by groups of friends, each adding an element.
In one book, beneath a circle of woven hair is written: “This lock of hair I once did wear... but now I trust it in your care... And if we each other never see, look at this and then remember me.”
Nice.
