David Byrne's 'Playing the Building'
If you live in New York, or plan on visiting before August 10th, I highly recommend you swing by the Battery Maritime Building and see David Byrne's amazing sound installation. He has hooked up an antique organ to "play" different parts of the building. It's completely interactive and completely delightful.
Additionally, the Maritime building was completed in 1909 and has been essentially closed from public eyes since 1938, so the inside is a time-capsule of Victorianess. It's a real treat. The building is slated for refurbishing starting this fall, so this is the last chance to see it in its former state.
